Our Love Story
Josh and Chabeli’s story began in the Spring of 2015 at Texas Tech University.
What started as a simple night out with friends turned into something much more meaningful. One of Chabeli’s friends knew just the person to call for a ride to a party that evening—and that person was Josh. That night marked their very first (and very informal) meeting, a moment neither of them realized would be the beginning of something special.
After that night, Josh couldn’t stop thinking about Chabeli. He reached out to their mutual friend to find out more about her, and by the end of the school year, the two had connected on social media.
Life soon took them in different directions when Chabeli transferred to the University of North Texas. Though they were living separate lives, they stayed loosely connected online. It wasn’t until quarantine, when the world slowed down, that their connection truly began to grow. What started as casual conversations quickly turned into texts, late-night chats, Facetimes and a deep friendship that neither of them expected, but neither could let go of.
Over time, that friendship turned into something more. Despite the challenges of long distance (by Texas standards), Josh and Chabeli realized that what they had was worth the time spent going back and forth. They decided to navigate the miles between them with constant travel, countless calendar invites, an occasional trip and every mode of transportation imaginable—planes, trains, automobiles, and buses—just to be together.
Then, on a beautiful fall day in New York City, Josh planned the perfect surprise. On the 63rd floor of 70 Pine Street, at the Michelin-starred restaurant Saga, he asked Chabeli to spend forever with him. She said yes.
Now, Josh and Chabeli are excited to continue their love story in Puerto Rico, the place where they officially began their relationship. Choosing to celebrate their wedding in Puerto Rico is not only a nod to where their journey truly started, but also a meaningful way to honor their cultural roots and share the beauty, vibrancy, and spirit of the island with the people they love most.
